Launch for Leicester's Walk of Fame
04/17/2010

Engelbert Humperdinck: 1936 –
Born in Madras, India, Engelbert Humperdinck (born Arnold George Dorsey) was the youngest of ten children born to British Army Officer and qualified engineer Mervyn Dorsey and his wife, Olive.

His family moved to Leicester when he was 10 and from an early age he developed a passion for music, saving his paper round money to pay for saxophone lessons.

Success came in 1967 with the release of his version of the country song, Please Release Me. Following this, Engelbert topped the charts in both the UK and the US, establishing himself as an international legend whose music constantly withstands the test of time.

Join us and Engelbert Humperdinck at the launch for Leicester's Walk of Fame  from 12:30pm on 24th April, and find out more about him by visiting the Walk of Fame exhibition at Curve from 2pm.
