For an international singer and entertainer like Engelbert Humperdinck who has more than 40 years of musical experience behind him, performing before huge crowds is no big deal. After all, he has been touring the globe at the rate of 140 concerts a year, some of them as many as 81 nights in a row.

The bigger challenge is how to ensure the total enjoyment and satisfaction of concert-goers with each and every act. It is for this reason that in his much-awaited concert on Tuesday, June 22, at the Araneta Coliseum, Humperdinck’s thousands of fans can expect no less.

Billed as “Engelbert Humperdinck Live In Manila!,” a musical treat from Ovation Productions, will transport the audience back to an enchanting time.

Among these pop classics are “Release Me,” “Quando, Quando, Quando,” “The Way It Used To Be,” “Strangers In The Night,” “After The Loving,” “Dance The Night Away,” “Spanish Eyes,” “There Goes My Everything,” “Am I That Easy To Forget,” and many more.

Humperdinck is also expected to sing selections from his new album entitled “Legacy Of Love,” which revisits many of his timeless hits and includes two never-before-recorded songs, the classic “Over The Rainbow” and the incomparable “My Way.”

Under the remarkably memorable name of Engelbert Humperdinck (after the Austrian composer of the 19th century opera, “Hansel and Gretel), and with his deep voice and long sideburns, he burst into the music scene in the 60s with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Tom Jones.

His debut single, “Release Me,” became a huge hit and went into the Guinness Book of Records for staying for 56 weeks in the charts.

In the ’70s, he scored a steady stream of hits, including the Grammy-nominated “After The Lovin’,” and during the next four decades, Humperdinck has generated sales of more than 150 million records – 64 gold albums and 24 platinum albums.
